Why IELTS

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System that tests English proficiency skills of the candidates all over the world. Citizens of non-English speaking countries who wish to study, live or work in English speaking countries must appear IELTS and achieve a minimum band score in the test.

IELTS Academic Test Sections

(For Study purpose)

Section	Time Limit	Questions	Task
Listening*	30 minutes	42 questions	Four recorded monologues and conversations.
Reading	60 minutes	42 questions	The passages are taken from books, journals, magazines and newspapers. They have been written for a non-specialist audience and are on academic topics of general interest.
Writing	20 minutes	Task-1	Writing task of at least 150 words where the test taker must summarise, describe or explain a table, graph, chart or diagram
Writing	40 minutes	Tasks-2	Short essay task of at least 250 words.
Speaking	11-14 minutes	Face-to-face interview	Includes short questions, speaking at length about a familiar topic and a structured decision.

Listening* (30 minutes, plus 10 minutes extra to transfer your answer to your answer sheet)

(For Immigration purpose)

Section	Time Limit	Questions	Task
Listening*	30 minutes	40 questions	Four recorded monologues and conversations.
Reading	60 minutes	40 questions	The texts used in each section are taken from notices, advertisements, company handbooks, official documents, books, magazines, and newspapers.
Writing	20 minutes	Task-1	Letter Writing:You can write the letter in a personal, semi-formal or formal style in 150 words.
Writing	40 minutes	Tasks-2	Short essay task of at least 250 words.
Speaking	11-14 minutes	Face-to-face interview	Includes short questions, speaking at length about a familiar topic and a structured decision.

Listening* (30 minutes, plus 10 minutes extra to transfer your answer to your answer sheet)

*Listening and Speaking sections are the same for both versions of the test
